The
Bible Study that Reaches
As you guys know, we are having
successful Bible studies at Starbucks every Tuesday. I know that I have
personally gotten a lot out of it and know that you guys have too. The fact
that we are having good Bible studies leaves me with only one question: why do
we not invite anybody to them? I mean, half of the reason for having a Bible
study is to educate those who don't know about the Word of God. Yea, we may be
learning things that we don't know, but if we aren't reaching anybody while
doing it, it's just us meeting somewhere to discuss the Word of God. No shame
in that, but we are called to "Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," in Matthew 28:19. All
nations means all people. We make disciples partly by teaching them the Word of
God, which is the purpose of Bible studies. Our church just had an awesome
revival, right? Lets take what we have been given and give it to the people
that need it! Knowledge is power, so why wouldn't we want the weak to be
strong? Knowing the Word of God is power, and it is a weapon, as it says in Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God
is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the
division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the
thoughts and intentions of the heart." The people of this world
need deliverance from sin and the things that bind them. The Word of God is a
necessary tool to accomplish this. How were we able to find out how to be
saved? Acts 2:38! If we hadn't ever heard that one scripture, how different
would our lives be today? The only reason why we are who we are today is
because we knew what the Word of God said, so we acted upon it and God
performed. Why wouldn't you want your friends at school to have this kind of
experience? We've been praying for a bigger youth group. God has told us that
this year is the year of more than enough. I believe that these Bible studies
will be one of the main factors in growing our youth group. All we have to do
is to invite people and let God do the rest.
